The Office of Enrollment & Student Success works collaboratively with partners in the Universities of Wisconsin and the state to ensure all students can access and succeed in college. Through strategic and student-centered policies, practices, and programs, our work fosters equitable and inclusive access and engagement to support each student’s ability to realize their educational goals and personal potential.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director for Strategic Enrollment supports the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Enrollment & Student Success by collaborating with UW Administration and UW university colleagues in the development of policies, initiatives, plans and practices that support systemwide and UW university strategic enrollment goals. In the present enrollment landscape, we are looking for a strong leader and excellent collaborator who will seek out innovative and effective approaches for recruitment, enrollment and yield. This leader will stay informed on enrollment research, policy, trends, technology and innovations that impact enrollment and assist the AVP in enrollment modeling and the development, implementation, and evaluation of enrollment initiatives. The Director will lead the strategic enrollment team within the Office of Enrollment and Student Success, which includes professionals focused on outreach and recruitment, Direct Admit Wisconsin, dual enrollment and pathways, transfer, financial aid, residency determination, communications, and maintaining the systemwide application for admission. The Director for Strategic Enrollment will partner with the Senior Director for Student Success & Wellbeing on collaborative initiatives that support systemwide recruitment, retention, and graduation goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
⦁ Recruit, train, and supervise professional staff necessary to carry out systemwide strategic enrollment initiatives.
⦁ Support the AVP for Enrollment & Student Success in promoting a systemwide culture that focuses on equitable access, inclusion and belonging, holistic student success, and data-informed policy and practices in service of enrollment, retention, and graduation goals.
⦁ Serve as a liaison and/or resource to Senior Strategic Enrollment Officers (SSEOs), Admissions Directors, Financial Aid Directors, Registrars and other key stakeholder groups at universities.
⦁ Work with UW Administration and campus stakeholders to develop and implement broad strategic enrollment initiatives to support both institutional and systemwide goals for equitable access, retention, and graduation.
⦁ Develop and implement system-wide strategic enrollment communication strategies.
⦁ Partner with the Office of Policy Analysis and Research (OPAR) to develop and track metrics, address research questions, and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic enrollment initiatives and goals.
⦁ Serve as a resource to senior leadership for trends and innovative ideas in higher education including the delivery of higher education and alignment with K-12 initiatives, as outlined by national higher education organizations and agencies.
⦁ Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Office of Enrollment & Student Success and across UW Administration in planning, decision-making, and communication.
⦁ Ensure compliance with applicable policies,  procedures and ethical guidelines related to strategic enrollment management and residency.
⦁ Represent the Universities of Wisconsin and contribute to local, statewide, and national organizations/events related to strategic enrollment management in higher education, as well as serve on committees/workgroups as appropriate.
⦁ Develop and deliver enrollment-related professional development initiatives.
⦁ Create and sustain a culture with staff that promotes excellent communication, healthy group process, and goal-centered accountability.
⦁ Work with the AVP for Enrollment & Student Success to develop and track annual budgets consistent with systemwide, division, and office strategic plans.
⦁ Assume accountability for overall budget management for assigned areas and work with unit/team leads to ensure fiscal responsibility.
⦁ Evaluate direct reports regularly in coordination with the AVP.
⦁ Effectively manage disciplinary issues in coordination with Human Resources.
⦁ Perform other duties as assigned by the AVP for Enrollment & Student Success and the UW Administration Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
⦁ Earned master’s degree in higher education or related field.
⦁ Five years of progressively responsible experience working in enrollment management and/or admissions and recruitment in higher education.
⦁ Demonstrated knowledge of issues and national trends related to strategic enrollment management.
⦁ A record of experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic enrollment plans.
⦁ Successful experiences improving students’ access and success in higher education, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
⦁ Evidence of facilitating cross-campus/cross-department collaboration.
⦁ Possess strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, strategic, and leadership skills.
⦁ Experience recruiting, training, and supervising professional staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
⦁ Five or more years of experience in a leadership position in enrollment management at an institution of higher education.
⦁ Experience working in a multi-university system.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret policies and data, lead strategic enrollment planning, and facilitate change.
⦁ Demonstrated experience in development, implementation, and assessment of strategic enrollment marketing initiatives.
⦁ Demonstrated experience using CRMs (i.e., Slate, Salesforce, EAB) and other enrollment tools (e.g., Niche, Encoura, College Board, Common App).
⦁ Demonstrated experience working with dual enrollment programs.
⦁ Experience or knowledge of direct admissions and international student recruitment.
⦁ An understanding of student needs at a variety of higher education institutions with diverse missions (doctoral, comprehensive, two-year, and online) such as those that comprise the Universities of Wisconsin.
⦁ Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
⦁ Proven ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
⦁ Demonstrated success in leading groups of diverse individuals to reach common solutions.
⦁ Flexibility and skill in managing during periods of change.
⦁ Sound judgment, discretion, tact, and the ability to collaborate easily with senior leaders within higher education, charitable, government, and business sectors.

WORK LOCATION
The office location is in Madison, WI. An in-office requirement is expected three days per week with the option to work the remaining two days off-site/remote. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Director of Strategic Enrollment (official title: Student Affairs Director) is a full-time, salaried (exempt), limited position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $100,000 – $122,300 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
