The Lodging and Meal Per Diem Calculator is a tool that is utilized to estimate daily meal per diem for overnight travel, as well as provide travelers with the maximum lodging rate. With the go-live of Workday in 2025, the way that daily per diems are calculated will change.
Use the existing per diem calculator for travel that will be reconciled in current SFS system (through early June of 2025). The new per diem calculator should be used for any travel that will be reconciled in Workday starting in July of 2025.
Existing Lodging and Meal Per Diem Calculator:

- Uses calculation that is currently in effect (until July 1, 2025)
- Access requires a UW login
New Lodging and Meal Per Diem Calculator:
- Stand-Alone Application
- Uses new calculation set to go live with Workday (removal of 25% deduction for first/last day of travel)
- Access open and does not require a login
This Per Diem Calculator should be used to estimate lodging max rates and meal per diems that will be submitted in Workday after July of 2025. The UW lodging policy will remain the same, but the meal per diem policy – specifically, the way deductions are provided for meals and first/last day of travel are calculated – will change with the implementation of workday.
