Dr. Tony Evers was elected to the nonpartisan office of state superintendent of public instruction in April 2009 and re-elected in 2013. Tony has served the students, parents, and citizens of Wisconsin for more than 35 years as an educator. He served as deputy state superintendent from 2001 to 2009. From 1992 to 2001, Tony was the chief administrator of Cooperative Educational Service Agency 6, based in Oshkosh, which serves 42 school districts in east central Wisconsin. Prior to this position, Tony served as superintendent of the Verona and Oakfield school districts, and he was a high school principal, elementary school principal, teacher of gifted and talented children, and technology coordinator in Tomah. Born and raised in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Tony graduated from Plymouth High School, and went on to UW-Madison, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees and a doctorate in educational administration.
