1. Purpose
The purpose of this practice directive is to provide information for the administration of worker’s compensation for UW System employees.
2. Background
Wis. Stat. Chapter 102, Worker’s Compensation sets forth the law that allows an employee injured while in the scope of employment to receive worker’s compensation benefits.

4. Practice Directive
Worker’s compensation is a program that pays for medical treatment and wages lost due to injuries or illnesses that happen at work. The Bureau of State Risk Management has delegated to the UW System Office of Risk Management the authority to develop, implement, and administer worker’s compensation policy and preocedures. The UW System Office of Risk Management should be contacted with questions regarding worker’s compensation.
