Overview
Eligible employees are granted 36 hours (4.5 days) of personal holiday hours per year (pro-rated if part-time) at time of hire, and again at the start of the year.
Once personal holiday is granted, it may be used from the first day of employment and like other paid leave, must be approved by your supervisor.
Personal holiday hours must be used by the end of the year in which they are granted or they will be lost.
- Faculty, Academic Staff and Limited appointees must use personal holiday hours by the end of the fiscal year (June 30).
- University Staff employees must use personal holiday hours by the end of the calendar year (December 31)
In the resource section below UW System Administrative Policy 1211 (formerly BN 2): Personal Holiday and Legal Holiday Administration can be accessed which outlines additional details on personal holiday hours.
