Background

America Saves Week is an annual celebration and a call to action for individuals and families to commit to saving! America Saves is a non-profit organization that uses principles of behavioral economics and social marketing to motivate, encourage, and support saving money, reducing debt, building wealth, and creating better financial habits. America Saves encourages YOU to Take the America Saves Pledge so you feel empowered to commit to saving! Thousands of non-profit, government, and corporate organizations partner with America Saves through local, regional, statewide, and national campaigns year-round and during America Saves Week.

The following Universities of Wisconsin partners will be providing system-wide events:

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider (Acentra Health)
  • UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (SRP) providers (Fidelity and TIAA)
  • UW Credit Union, and Summit Credit Union
  • Wisconsin’s College Savings Program provider (Edvest)
  • Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) 457 Program provider (Empower)

All events are intended to educate you on a variety of financial wellness topics. Attend as many sessions as you’d like.

Programs to Help You Save

review the below programs to help you start saving:

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) web page – The HSA through the Universities of Wisconsin is available to you if you are also enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) through the Universities of Wisconsin. Most employees are eligible for employer contributions. Employee contributions are voluntary and can be changed at any time. The HSA is administered by Optum.
  • UW 403(b) Supplement Retirement Program (SRP) web page – The 403(b) Program is a voluntary supplemental retirement savings program, administered by the Universities of Wisconsin. There is no employer contribution. Employee contributions can be changed at any time.
  • Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) 457 Program web page – You can also save for retirement with the WDC 457 Program, administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF). There is no employer contribution. Employee contributions can be changed at any time.
  • Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) – The Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) is administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF). Most employees are eligible for employer and employee contributions.
