“The bill approved today by the Wisconsin State Legislature to increase the maximum amount of a Wisconsin Higher Education Grant is very good news for the neediest UW students and their families. This increase is an important step toward helping Wisconsin students struggling to pay for a college education. We’re encouraged that this idea had broad, bipartisan support in both the Senate and the Assembly. I will be urging the Governor to take prompt action to sign this bill to increase the maximum state grant from $2,500 to $3,000.
“There is a lot more we can do to help our students in the future. The UW System will be considering more big ideas about financial aid and student access at the Board of Regents meeting next month. Providing access to every student who wants a college education, and is willing to work at it, is one of the UW System’s top priorities.”
