“The Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office informed me today that its examination of the past practice of small numbers of regents conducting telephone conference calls prior to regent meetings did not violate the state open meetings law.
“I believe that the attorney general has reached the correct conclusion in this matter. The teleconferences were discontinued shortly after I became board president last year, but the attorney general found the regents acted in good faith in those prior years when the teleconferences had been held.
“Going forward, we will work to ensure that the important work of the Board of Regents continues to be conducted in a fair and open manner.”
