David L. Miller, vice president for administration and fiscal affairs for the University of Wisconsin System, has announced that he has accepted a new position as chief financial officer for the University of Tennessee System. He plans to take office there in January 2017.
“It has been a privilege to be part of the University of Wisconsin System, one of the nation’s great university systems, and to serve the students and families of Wisconsin,” Miller said. “The University of Tennessee presented me with an exciting opportunity, which has the added benefit of locating my family closer to relatives in east Tennessee. As I take on this new challenge, I will be forever grateful for the opportunities, experience, and valuable counsel I received with the UW System.”
Miller joined the UW System in 1997. He previously served as UW System’s associate vice president of capital planning and budget.
“David has been a key member of leadership at the UW System for nearly 20 years, and we have valued his insight and vision. He has been at the forefront of our drive to strengthen the transparency and accountability of the UW System’s budgeting and financial planning processes,” said UW System President Ray Cross. “This is a loss for us and a tremendous gain for Tennessee. We wish David and his family the best.”
Cross plans to initiate a search for Miller’s successor immediately.
