President Rothman approved revisions to UW System Administrative Policy 165, The Academic Calendar, in November 2022, including the addition of Section 6.C, Religious Holidays. This section notes that UW System Administration will provide information on major religious observances so that universities can be aware of religious observances at least five years in the future. The annual calendars are designed to provide spiritual and religious observance information and are based on multiple sources including the Interfaith Calendar developed by North Carolina for Community and Justice (NCCJ). Some non-religious holidays also are included to help campuses in their planning. Note that this is not an exhaustive list and that dates may vary by region.
Other examples included in the policy approval notice follow:
- University of Louisville: University Policy on Work-Restricted Religious Holy Days
- University of Missouri Inclusion, Diversity & Equity: Dates, Practices & Accommodations
- Chabad.org: Jewish Holidays
